Places to visit

Making a plan first will help your trip easier and more convenient. Ben Tre has so many famous destinations:

-  Con Quy: situated in Chau Thanh with specialties are fruits, shrimps and fish. Visiting Con Quy, tourists will have the chance to enjoy special singing performance of this land.

-  Con Phung: lies on a floating island of Tien River in Tan Thach commune, Chau Thanh district. Coming here, you can visit coconut factories, souvenirs made from coconut, visit orchards and have a cup of honey bee and kumquat, the taste of tropical country.

-  Orchards: there are two orchards for you: Cai Mon in Cho Lach and Tien Long, Tan Phu in Chau Thanh district. You will have the chance to enjoy the green fresh air and freshest fruit picked by yourself. The price ticket includes visiting, enjoying.

-  Nguyen Dinh Chieu Mausoleum: in An Duc commune, Ba Tri district, Nguyen Dinh Chieu Mausoleum is the rest place of a great poet, patriot and healer of the people. On 1st July each year, Ben Tre people hold a traditional festival to remind of him.

-  Dong Khoi guerrilla village: is in Dinh Thuy commune, Mo Cay district. Coming here, you can visit exhibition house where there are simple weapons of the local people used to fight against the enemies.

Means of transport

If you depart from Saigon, you can take a coach at West Station with the price of 80,000-120,000 VND. And it takes about 1.5-2 hours.

Besides, you can also go by motorbike to enjoy the scene on the way. You should depart at 4 am or 9 am (6-8 am is the rush hour). Follow Highway 1A to My Tho City to have breakfast with a bowl of noodles. After that, ask the local people the way to Rach Mieu Bridge, turn right at the bridge and you will be at the center of Ben Tre City.

Or you can go in tours of travel agencies in Saigon to be more convenient.

Accommodation

If you are backpacker travel by motorbike, you can ask the local people to stay with and learn more about the daily life and enjoy the specialties.

Besides, there are many hotels in the city: Cong Doan hotel, Ham Luong hotel, Cuu Long hotel, Thu Thu motel, Que Huong motel. In the evening, enjoy a cup of coffee at the rooftop and contemplate the whole scene of Ben Tre City.

Cuisine

-  Grilled banana: Banana is crushed flatly then grilled on coal and eaten with coconut milk. The hot sweet taste of banana mixed with the fatty taste of coconut milk will surprise you.

-  Noodles cooked with tapioca: the noodle is made of rice powder, the broth is soft thick cooked with duck meat and eaten with ginger fish sauce.

-  Pomelo sweet soup: made from pomelo peel without the green parts, brined and cooked. The special thing is this dish is that it has durian.

-  Coconut mouse: this kind of animal living on coconut tree is the favorite dish of the local people. You can order this dish to be grilled, stewed, cooked with curry.

-  Palmworm: this is the specialty that only Ben Tre has. Palmworm is sunk in fish sauce then stir-fried with butter. This is the most nutritious dish in Ben Tre.

-  Fruits: the mother of nature has given the West fertile alluvial soil so there are plenty kinds of fruits are waiting for you to enjoy with very cheap price.
