Santa Claus in Vietnam.

The Christmas atmosphere is already there in every corner of Vietnam, especially in Ho Chi Minh city. However, Christmas isn't Christmas anymore without Santa Claus.

Nguyen Ngoc Binh doesn’t follow Christianity, however, on Christmas Day he still puts on the Santa Claus outfit and his white beard.

Binh loves being Santa Claus so much that he established his own company to train people who would like to be Santa Claus on Christmas Day. The training program includes from children toys, raindeers to the Jingle Bells song. This year, Binh has trained 25 people and they are trying to meet the demand of bringing gifts to children on Christmas Day.

Binh's Santa Clauses ride motobikes instead of raindeers to bring gifts to children, including children in orphanages. Though Binh is always looking for tall and fat men, he end up only having the short and thin ones. He asks them to keep their beards as clean as possible. After wearing the Santa Claus outfits, they all put some white powder on their faces to look more like Western people.

The Christmas atmosphere is already there in every corner of the country, especially in Ho Chi Minh city. Christians in Vietnam has been celebrating Christmas for a long time. However, nowadays people in other different religion also celebrate this annual festival.

Christmas Day in Vietnam is not simply for entertainment. In the late night of December 24th and early morning of December 25th, many people gather around the city central church to pray for the Birth of Jesus. To Christians, this is a solemn ceremony. Though to people who don't follow Christianity, it's just an interesting thing to see.
