This unique art has been in Vietnam at the end of XI century and the beginning of XII century at Ly dynasty. The water puppet stage is on the water and it’s presentation is based on the folk.

Vietnamese people often perform water puppet on Tet holidays and the traditional anniversaries. However, nowadays you can see it everyday at Thang Long Water Puppet Theater.

The theater was established in October 1969 with the name of Kim Dong Water Puppet Troupe. Up to now, Thang Long Water Puppet Theater has been had 38 years of operation with 2 groups including 22 actors, 15 musicians, and 5 professional technicians.

They perform this art in many countries in all over the world, such as: America, Japan, and Switzerland… that makes Vietnamese people and country are closer to the foreigners.

There are 7 shows on a day that are at 08:30, 14:45, 16:00, 17:15, 18:30, 20:00, and 21:15. You can choose the suitable show and enjoy it.
