Things must be known when visiting Sapa

Sapa town is on Hoang Lien Son Alps, as known as Tonkinese Alps. This place used to be the residence of H’mong, Tay, Dao and Giay ethnic.

Sapa town is on Hoang Lien Son Alps, as known as Tonkinese Alps. This place used to be the residence of H’mong, Tay, Dao and Giay ethnic. This beautiful land was first discovered by a French person in 1880s. By 1891, together with Lao Cai province, Sapa officially became a colony of France and played a role as the main military base of the Northwest.

Things must be known when visiting Sapa

Nowadays, Sapa town, once again, welcomes tourists to a land like heaven with a lot of secrets and surprise.

First of all

-  Sapa is far from Hanoi 370km and it takes 8 hours to travel by train.

-  Travel train is only available at night, the earliest one is at 19:40 pm, the latest one is at 23 pm. There are two fast trains: SP1 at 20:40 pm and SP3 at 21:55 pm.

Should

-  You should bring the original ID, birth certificate with children.

-  Luggage: warm clothes suitable for 18-25 Celsius, sport shoes or sandals.

-  Bring candy, old clothes, books to give to ethnic children in Cat Cat village and Sapa town.

-  Visit Ham Rong Mount, enjoy grilled food at night market – opposite to Sapa Church, buy brocade souvenirs, Sapa sweet soup and salmon hot pot.

-  Ask for the price before you pay.

-  Means of transport: motorbike because in this small town, there is no taxi.

Should not

-  Buy medicines, ganoderma or ventricular tubers because these are from China which are not good as advertisement and unknown origin.

-  Buy colorful brocades because they are made in China.
